DTF Artwork and Sizing Guidelines

For superior Direct to Film (DTF) transfer outcomes, follow these enhanced artwork preparation and sizing instructions:

1. Artwork Resolution:

Ensure artwork is at least 300 DPI at the intended print size for sharp, detailed prints.

2. Color Mode:

Design in CMYK color mode to closely match the print output, acknowledging that some color shifts may occur due to the nature of DTF inks and fabric interactions.

3. Design Sizing:

Size your design appropriately for the garment, generally up to 12 inches wide for adult garments and 9 inches for youth, ensuring balanced placement and margins.

4. File Format:

Provide artwork in AI, EPS (vector), or TIFF, PSD, PNG (raster) formats, with a transparent background, flattened layers, and outlined texts for consistency.

5. Bleed and Border:

Add a 0.125-inch bleed for designs extending to the edges and a minimum 0.25-inch thick border to prevent uneven borders.

6. Complexity and Detail:

Designs should be adapted for the print medium; very fine details may be lost, depending on garment texture and material.

7. Powder Adhesion:

Ensure designs allow for uniform powder adhesion, particularly in detailed or dense areas, to maintain print durability and wash ability.

8. Gradient Issues:

Be cautious with gradients as they can be challenging to reproduce accurately in . DTF printing. Gradual fades might not transition smoothly due to the layering of CMYK inks and white underbase. Simplify gradients or consult with your printer for alternatives.

9. Test Print:

A preliminary test print can reveal how your design translates to fabric, allowing for adjustments before full production.

10. Consultation:

Engage with your DTF provider for insights on optimizing your design for the best possible print quality.

Adhering to these guidelines, especially considerations for powder adhesion and gradient reproduction, ensures that your DTF transfers meet high standards for quality, appearance, and longevity.
